In the hotel and catering sector, a caterer is responsible for cooking meals, whether for the customers of the establishment itself or for a specific event. Indeed, to guarantee the success of an event meal, everything now depends on the expertise of a caterer. Any organizer knows this and only wants to use the best service in his region. Whether for professional or private events, this profession occupies an important place, which is why it is highly coveted by young people and people looking to retrain professionally.

In general, the catering activity consists of cooking dishes for a specific clientele. We mainly distinguish between the daily caterer and the event caterer. The daily caterer specializes in take-out meals. In this case, the culinary expert himself chooses the dishes he wants to offer to his customers, taking into account their wishes and the “culinary trends” of the moment.

As for the event caterer, he specializes in the organization of receptions and offers a tailor-made service. To ensure complete satisfaction to their customers, caterers must respect health and safety rules, while using fresh, quality products. A dish service – disposable or not – must be offered among the services offered. A catering service can therefore be established in a premises or not. Most professionals choose to run their own boutique, while also speaking to events to expand their influence.

Beyond the culinary service, an event caterer is responsible for managing commercial relations. If he has a room for hire, he must take charge of the organization of receptions, which involves, for example, the decoration of the table and the room itself.
