PRESENTATION OF PhD PROGRAM

The Open University of Tanzania (out) has four admission cycles: July, November, March and June. There is no deadline for admission of applications for admission. The Lawes Open University College (LOUC) has a rolling admission throughout the year. The duration of registration period between tree (3) to for (4) years and shall not exceed five (5) years. Failure by the candidates to complete the PhD degree program within the prescribed period shall lead to her or his discontinuation from study, unless an extension is granted by the senate. OUT/LAWEH offers PhD by this and course work. Candidates undertake independent research under supervisors by senate on the recommendation of Faculty Board. A prospective candidate for PhD degree is required to submit a proposal of the subject of study and/or research which he/she proposes to pursue. Thereafter, one or two supervisors will be appointed to advise the candidate in his/her field of study or research. A candidate for the degree shall be required to submit a thesis embodying the results of his or her studies upon completion of the degree and viva defense.
